MISSION

The mission of the National Black United Fund is to build a viable
philanthropic institution for Black American opportunity, growth, and change.

Our strategy is to use philanthropic resources to meet vital needs in Black
communities, and to use those resources as venture capital to
leverage social and economic change.

NBUF raises funds for and provides technical assistance to Black organizations that provide a wide variety of services to Black Americans in the areas of children, health, education, equal opportunity, economic development, the environment, and social justice.

NBUF provides customized ways for Black Americans to contribute, including
through employee payroll deduction campaigns, major donor gifts,
individual contributions, endowments, donor-advised funds, planned giving,
wills and bequests, and estate planning.

The tradition of Black American self-help and empowerment is at the core of our mission. The core values of NBUF are fiscal integrity, accountability, self-help, and trust.
